As some of you already know, we officially shut down 45royale at the end of 2019. As the business was winding down, I started reaching out to folks and taking interviews. I met with some amazing organizations—InVision, Github, Automattic, and Elastic to name a few.

But after speaking with some talented teams and receiving a few of offers, something still wasn’t right. It was during these interviews that I came to realize that now was probably the only time I would be able to explore all avenues before transitioning to the second act of my career. I was in a unique position and decided to let my mind wander and consider next steps on a deeper level.

Truth be told, for years I’ve been thinking about stepping outside the world of digital products to focus on something tangible. Something that would serve people, something you could hold in your hand.

Things have a way of working out…

In September of 2019, an opportunity along those lines came knocking. A vitamin startup called Mybite approached me about building the digital side of their business.

The science and tech behind their product are next-level and they have an innovative delivery system—there’s nothing like it on the market. I was immediately intrigued.

We ended up working together for a few months before they made an offer to bring me on as the company’s first Digital Director. I’ve been working there for 8 months now and it’s been a whirlwind (in the best possible sense). In fact, we just launched a nation-wide rebrand with a small, yet insanely talented team. Honestly, I’m still not sure how we pulled it off, but I couldn’t be more proud of what we were able to accomplish.

There’s more coming down the line soon and it’s an exciting time for the company. I’m grateful to be a part of it.

Site updates, a new blog, and Links section

In preparation for my announcement, I spent time updating this site to better reflect my current professional status. I re-wrote the copy, updated the color palette, built out the blog so it’s easier to share ideas quickly, and a lot more. I’m especially excited about the new Links section—I can see this becoming a handy resource for technical creatives over time. I hope you take a little bit of time to poke around the new digs.

Moving on from 45royale

I’ll always keep the memories and experience of 45royale with me. The fourteen years of blood, sweat, and tears have left an indelible mark on me. I look back with gratitude, but I can say now with certainty that I couldn’t be more excited about the next chapter in my career. I feel like I’m just getting started and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me.

If you’d like to keep up with my journey, I invite you to sign up for my newsletter. Not only will you receive my free e-book The Business of Design, but you’ll also get first access to all my articles and resources. Thanks for reading—onward and upward!
